RSS looks not to involve itself in the ongoing temple movements in Mathura and Kashi, said RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat in Delhi on the 3rd day of the RSS centenary lecture series on Thursday, August 28. He stated that these movements to supposedly ‘reclaim’ the temples will not have the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s direct backing although they will have the organization’s diligent support.
On the flip side, he made it clear that the Swayamsevaks (volunteers) are free to participate in the movements without having to represent the RSS or function through it. This comes after the chief reiterated that the Hindu community doesn’t go around looking for ‘shivlings’ at every mosque out there.
The Sangh won’t be participating in this movement. Their objective to fully support the Ayodhya Ram Mandir movement and lead it panned out successfully and that the whole Hindu community is ready and willing to give it all for the reclamation of the temples in Mathura and Varanasi, Bhagwat exclaimed.
The Shahi Idgah mosque stands abutted to Krishna Janmabhoomi temple in Mathura and the Kashi Vishwanath temple shares a common boundary wall with the Gyanvapi mosque. Certain people from religious organizations like Vishwa Hindu Parishad or VHP claim that there is one of the 12 Jyotirlings in the Gyanvapi mosque.
Bhagwat also said the other side (muslims) should let the Hindu community obtain the supposed ‘temples’ that are allegedly hidden in the mosques as they are only three in number (Ayodhya, Mathura, and Varanasi) and that this would prove a step in strengthening brotherhood among the two distinct religious groups.
The ideal solution and path is to dampen the escalations and reclaim the temples peacefully, according to the RSS Chief.
