Due to incomplete requirements, Russia has withdrawn from the Black Sea grain export agreement. It was intended to reduce the world’s food crises.
The Kremlin announced that Russia had canceled the Black Sea grain export agreement on Monday. It claims that Russia has stopped being a part of a contract that allows grains to be shipped through the Black Sea to the hunger-stricken parts of the world, negatively impacting global food security.
The United Nations and Turkey conciliated the agreement last year in July. It sought to alleviate a worldwide food crisis. It was done by enabling the transfer of grains safely from Ukraine, which was earlier prevented by the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
Russia has been claiming that the necessity for its extension has not been fulfilled for months, even after citing its justifications. Now that it has been repeatedly extended, Russia finally ended it on Monday.
According to Dmitry Peskov, a Kremlin spokesman, “The Black Sea agreement ceased its validity today. Unfortunately, the parts of the agreement pertaining to Russia have not been taken into consideration, and nothing has been implemented yet, and as a result, it was terminated.”
The West did not formally support the shipments and has made the demands several times; still, the claims have not been met. Moscow has been stating for a long that obstacles still stand in the way of its exports of grain and fertilizers.
Peskov said, “Russia will resume the agreement immediately into practice as soon as the claims on the agreements are fulfilled.
The decision not to renew the agreement has nothing to do with the nocturnal attack on the bridge that connects Russia to Crimea. He described the attack as a “terrorist attack” done by Ukraine.
As the Ukrainian military speculated that the attack was retaliation by Russia, Ukrainian media had already cited the Security Service of Ukraine as responsible for the incident.
President Putin has already stated his view even before the terrorist attack. According to Peskov, Putin said that these two occurrences are not connected.
