Mohammed Shami just broke all records etching his name in the history books and became the fastest Indian bowler and second quickest overall, to achieve 200 ODI wickets in the Champions Trophy match, held between India and Bangladesh marking his return to the ICC Tournament. Shami has been known as India’s best bowler so far scalping around 3 wickets. And in the very first over of the game, Shami was able to scalp one wicket and gave India a dreamy start to begin the tournament with.
Again in the seventh over, Shami was able to scalp another wicket. He captured three wickets in order to achieve this milestone in this match, which was his 104 and better former Indian pacer, Ajit Agarkar’s record in getting the mark in 133 matches. And he achieved this greatest milestone simply in a matter of 104 ODI’s. He has given the Indian team a much deserved breakthrough and dismissed Jaker Ali from the Bangladesh team.
Later on in the match, Shami added two more wickets to his tally to finish the match with 5/53, which further established his position as one of the most passionate and successful bowlers to play at the ICC Championship Trophy Tournament.
After achieving around 60 overs, Mohammed Shami has been named as the leading wicket taker in the history of Indian cricket at the previously held two 50 overs ICC tournaments. These games were, The Champions Trophy and the ODI World Cup. He was then followed by cricketers Zaheer Khan, Javagal Srinath and Ravindra Jadeja.
Shami has been known to be one of the best bowlers in the world because of his breakthrough record in the past three ODI World Cups and he just added on to that title. Even in the 2023 World Cup, Shami was the one to scalp 24 wickets and finished the game as the highest taker among all the other cricketers.
