Over the past 30 years, Singapore has been one of the key pillars in contributing to the development of Bengaluru as a global tech hub.
Ekroop Caur, Karnataka’s Secretary, stated the crucial partnership of Singapore in Bengaluru’s tech evolution. She also said that it continues to be one of the leading partnerships and that Singapore’s capitaland is the biggest partner under a public-private partnership. The state-of-art facilities have been created by these initiatives and cater to the needs of both startups and established companies. Due to this vibrant ecosystem has been established that focuses on collaboration and knowledge sharing. Caur also added that they have a tagline – ‘skill locally, work globally’ and that they have the capability to serve the global requirements with the available talent.
Other than strengthening local capabilities, this collaboration also helps Bengaluru to leverage Singapore’s extensive global network. It also encompasses the return of Indian-origin startups and talent mobility. Skilled Indian professionals are returning to Bnegaluru in order to scale-up their ventures that will contribute extensively to the city’s reputation as one of the leading tech hubs in the world.
Preparations are underway for the 27th Bengaluru Tech Summit that will strengthen these ties with Singapore. The Summit is scheduled for November 19-21. To foster collaborations between international and local firms the event is expected to attract 5,000 companies. Executive Chairman of MM Activ, Jagdish Patankar has said that to facilitate a government-led mission to this summit his company is collaborating with Enterprise Singapore. He also added that as a result of Singapore being the global innovation alliance partner, companies based in the region keep participating in the summit scheduled in Bengaluru.
Bengaluru is also a hub for startups and is driven by the robust culture of the same and also has advanced foreign investments. To keep pace with global trends, there is continuous upskilling of the workforce due to rapid technological advancements. Certain obstacles can create hurdles for startups to be innovative. Through collaborative efforts, both Karnataka and Singapore are focusing towards addressing these challenges. Both regions stand to benefit significantly through strategic partnerships, talent mobility initiatives, infrastructure investments and cultural exchanges.
