Nearly ten people were injured on the streets of Northern Israel when a vehicle barged into the pedestrians on the morning of 27 February 2025.
In the early hours of 27 February, Thursday, a vehicle attacked the people waiting at the bus stop in the Hanna-Karkur intersection, at Highway 65, which is located in the Northern part of Israel. The vehicle barged into the streets, injuring at least ten pedestrians. Out of the ten injured, there was a pedestrian who was severely injured and was in a critical condition. The police suspect this act to be an ‘act of terrorism’. In an interview, the police official at the Karkur junction, which is situated in the South of Haifa, stated that they had successfully traced down the suspect’s vehicle. The police official said, “This incident is highly likely to be an act of terrorism. We have traced down a vehicle suspected to carry the suspect who barged on the streets.”
Magen David Adom, the ‘first responders’ of the country, informed that “the medical team treated ten injured people on the streets, soon after the horrific incident took place. Out of the ten injured, there was also a girl, aged 17, who was critically injured due to the incident.”
Revealing the details of the suspect, the police said in a statement that “the suspect is mostly suspected to be a Palestinian man. The man is suspected to belong to the area of Jenin and is 53 years old.” The police further revealed that “the suspect has been illegally residing in the country and has married a citizen of Israel. It is highly possible that the suspect intentionally chose to attack the people waiting at the bus stop.”
Israel has been under constant control of the military, which has raised tensions in the country. It was the first time in 20 years that Israel had deployed tanks on the streets and carried out such major offensive operations, especially in the northern part of the West Bank.
The Israeli military has named the operation as ‘Iron Wall. The offensive started taking place in the country soon after both Palestine and Israel agreed on a ceasefire. This led to many people taking refuge in the areas of Tubas, Jenian, and Tulkarem.
