A 40- year-old man has been arrested after his SUV rammed into the divider followed by a collision with a cab and another car, killing two persons and leaving one injured on Noida Link Road.
The accused identified as Amit, was arrested from South Delhi’s New Friends colony area. According to the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abhishek Dhania, is a property dealer from Taimoor Nagar, who surrendered in the evening after the incident, also sustained a head injury. He lost his control over the vehicle and collided into the cab and the Baleno. The police reported the aforementioned after investigating the case and scanning the CCTV footage from the area of the route from that night.
The incident took place at 1.14 am on Sunday, when Akash Basisea, the complainant alerted the police that a black Mahindra Bolero crashed into two vehicles near the Mayur Vihar area. The deceased were an elderly woman, Suman Dhoopra (63) and a cab driver, Arjun singh Solanki (32). Meanwhile, the bodies were sent to the LBS Hospital for post-mortem examination. The police started their investigation. The reports said that the passengers were coming from a family function and booked a cab with Bluesmart cab and the SUV driver was drunk when he hit the cab causing the death of two persons in the cab.
Sajeev Dhoopra(67), the husband of the deceased is critically injured and is in a private hospital, said the police officer. The reports further disclosed that the bolero first hit the central verge, leading to deviation of the SUV into opposite lane, causing the collision with Baleno and then crashing with the cab. The accused fled from the scene right after the incident.
The collision was so severe that the Bolero crushed the cab completely by landing on top of it, said police. Later the complaint was registered at Mayur Vihar police station added Police.
