Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ishan Kishan will play their first test match for the Indian Cricket Team against West Indies after being selected in the playing 11 of the first test match of the series at Windsor Park in Dominica on Wednesday.
BCCI tweeted, “Congratulations to Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ishan Kishan who are all set to make their Test debut for #TeamIndia.” Both players are coming off their compelling stints at this year’s IPL.
Yashasvi Jaiswal, who hails from Mumbai, is coming from an impressive season for Rajasthan Royals, where he scored 625 runs in 14 matches. He also played around 15 first-class matches but rides high on an average of 80.
On Tuesday, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma confirming Jaiswal’s selection, said, “So I think we will try to do this and hopefully this will go on for a long time. Because we have been looking for a left-hander for many years. So now that we have got that left-hander, let’s hope he performs well for the team. And he can make that spot his own,”
Ishan Kishan will be taking KS Bharat’s place in the squad. Due to KS Bharat’s recent forgettable performance at the WTC Final against Australia, India is looking for Ishan Kishan to justify his spot as both batter and wicketkeeper.
Ishan Kishan is coming off a decent season of IPL and will bank on his aggressive batting style against the West Indies.
