Late Saturday night, a 10-year-old boy’s body was discovered hanging at a BJP MP’s residence in Silchar, Assam. Villagers say it was a suicide, but the police have reported it as an unusual death. Later, the Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) received the body for post-mortem.
The fifth-grade pupil had been residing in Silchar MP Rajdeep Roy’s home for several years with his mother and older sister. His mother works as a housekeeper at the residence of the BJP MP. The family hails from the Palong Ghat neighbourhood of the Cachar district. According to police and the boy’s relative, the mom took her two children to Silchar a few years ago to ensure they received a better education.
“I’m not certain, but initial investigations seem to suggest that it might have been a suicide. When addressing the media about the incident, Roy said, “I have spoken with the district’s top authorities and requested that they thoroughly investigate the case.
Additionally, his family members told the police that he was angry with his mother for not buying him a cell phone. He was demanding it so he could play video games. Even the police suggested that the evidence at this point strongly shows that he committed suicide.
After learning of the occurrence, the BJP MP hurried home before briefing the media. “They told me he hung himself. The door of the room where the body was recovered was shut from the inside. As the police broke it open, the boy was found unconscious. He was saved briefly by the medical staff at the adjacent hospital when we got him there. Doctors pronounced him dead,” the BJP MP stated.
According to Mr. Roy, the boy was an intelligent student. He remembered having conversations with him and having seen his writings. He added that the boy was knowledgeable. “This death is a personal loss to me and my family is shocked,” the MP continued. The cops claimed to have gone to the house and looked through it thoroughly. The investigation is currently ongoing.
