Recently, at the 15th BRICS Summit, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave special gifts to world leaders to strengthen bilateral relations and promote cultural links. PM Modi gave a Telangana-made “surahi,” a traditional Indian water vessel, as a present while he was in South Africa. The “surahi” represents India’s rich culture and workmanship and reflects the nation’s long-standing traditions in ceramics and fine art.

The gesture, which also promotes the virtue of water conservation, which is particularly important in the modern world, not only denotes a shared cultural tie. Additionally, PM Modi presented President Lula with a Gond artwork as part of his attempts to improve ties between India and Brazil. Gond art is a native style of painting used by the Gond tribe in central India and is distinguished by its detailed craftsmanship and vivid colours.

In addition to showcasing India’s rich creative heritage, PM Modi also underscored the value of indigenous cultures and the need for their protection on a global scale by presenting this artwork. PM Modi’s dedication to diplomacy through cultural interactions is reflected in these thoughtful gifts. Such actions help bridge cultural and political divides and advance international understanding.

The ‘Surahi’ gift underscores the significance of sustainable water management, a concern shared by many nations dealing with water scarcity and climate change. The need to acknowledge and protect the cultural diversity of the world is embodied in the Gond artwork. These actions remind us of the common ideals and goals that bind nations together as diplomatic relations develop.

As mentioned by Mint, PM Modi addressed the 15th BRICS Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa. At the meeting, PM Modi said,” I believe BRICS and friendly countries can work together to strengthen a multi-polar world.”
