Agniveers would be provided with a 10% reservation on all Group ‘C’ or ‘D’ jobs in direct recruitment for uniform Kerala service after they retire. This reservation will be in addition to the existing one for ex-servicemen. Thursday, September 12, 2024, was the day when Chief Minister Mohan Majhi led the state cabinet which ratified the Odisha Ex-Agniveers Recruitment to Uniform Services Rules 2024 on Thursday, August 24 2024 which was meant to provide for the enhanced chances of ex Agniveers getting employed in uniformed services such as police forest excise fire services or any other services as may be notified from time to time.
As stated in the cabinet note last dated September: 21, 2022, ex-Agniveers shall be required to obtain the Procuring Entity defined minimum requirements for these jobs in any relevant terms documents once they have the Agniveer certificate.
Ex-Agniveers will moreover be granted a three-year upper age limit relaxation in respect of all Group ‘C’ and ‘D’ vacancies in direct recruitment at which the age limit will in any case be extended. Such exceptions will apply without the performance of the Physical Efficiency Examination.
In another crucial decision made by the Cabinet, it cleared the equity divestment of Shapoorji Pallonji Port Maintenance Private Limited (SPPML) and Orissa Stevedores Limited (OSL) to Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited (APSEZ) and also the signing of the revised concession agreement for development and expansion of Gopalpur port.
As of now, Gopalpur Port Limited (GPL) achieves 11.43 million metric tonnes in terms of cargo throughput on an annual basis and pays the state government 7.5% of its gross revenue to consider. In the year budget 2023-24, this revenue share will be approximately ₹38 crore. Also, the port employs about 4000 To the economy both directly and indirectly. The expected expansion is designed to enhance revenue and employment opportunities.
The Cabinet Council stated Gopalpur port which was formally controlled as a fair weather lighterage port by the state’s commerce and transport department, operated only under certain weather conditions, in a statement that was made after the meeting. The Cabinet also sanctioned an amendment in the Odisha Civil Services (Rehabilitation Assistance) Rules 2020 which had imposed such restrictions to compassionate appointments of daughters or step-daughters in case of death of a government servant including married ones. The restructured arrangements in rehousing that fall under her jurisdiction were productive or unmarried daughters and step-daughters were the ones qualified for such positions.
