Pune’s new underground metro will be inaugurated on September 26 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will also establish the foundation for an elevated line, according to a statement made on Saturday by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Devendra Fadnavis was joined by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and other dignitaries in Pune to formally introduce several district initiatives.

Devendra Fadnavis thanked Nitin Gadkari for building the four-lane Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi Marg and Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palki Marg, which connects Pandharpur and Pune. The project will be finished in its entirety, and construction on the final section will soon begin, according to a meeting discussing the district’s development plans.The Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari made a lot of decisions for the Palkhi Marg, he said, and for that, I’m grateful Fadnavis said that PM Modi will launch the underground Metro route from Civil Court to Swargate. He will also lay the foundation for a road extension from Swargate to Katraj and an elevated corridor connecting Pimpri Chinchwad and Nigdi.

“We are constructing additional Pune Metro phases. Up to 3.5 lakh people took the Metro for immersions during the Ganpati festival. In addition to inaugurating the new Metro route on September 26, PM Modi is slated to do the bhumi pujan of the new one. Pune would be one of the best places in the near future for housing, he added.

Devendra Fadnavis said that a proposal to rename the Pune airport in honor of Sant Tukaram Maharaj has been made by Union Minister Murlidhar Mohol.

Mohol and Gadkari Saheb will follow up on the proposal after it is forwarded to the Center, he said

The metro launch should be possible when the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety’s (CMRS) safety inspections are completed in the next two days. A CMRS team has assessed the underground section’s safety, and Maha Metro employees have stated that they are currently working to complete the necessary procedures in order to acquire the necessary certification.
