The Pauri district in Uttarakhand saw a major tragedy where a bus with 28 passengers on board met with an accident. The bus went out of control and fell into a ditch about 100 meters deep.

The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) has confirmed the fact that the accident took place near Dahal Chauri, in Pauri Garhwal district’s Srinagar area. Rescue operations immediately followed where the injured were taken to the nearest Pauri district hospital. The local people have thoroughly helped with the rescue operations. Eight among the injured have been transferred to a higher health centre in Srinagar considering their serious and critical condition.

The District Magistrate of Pauri, Mr. Ashish Chauhan reached the accident spot and the rescue operation was held under his command, quite speedily and efficiently. He has also called in the officials of the Transport Department to investigate and administer the main reason of the accident.

5 people have died on the spot while one died undergoing treatment. The rest of the injured are taken care of. The Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed his grief over the unfortunate incident and promised to keep providing updates on the same.

He tweeted on X saying “I pray to God to grant the souls of the departed a place in his feet and provide strength to the bereaved family to bear this pain. Relief and rescue operations are underway by the local administration and the injured are being treated at the nearest hospital. I pray to Baba Kedar for the speedy recovery of the injured.”

The administered authorities are actively investigating the main reason and the circumstances that might have led to this tragic incident. They mentioned “we are working to determine the cause of bus’s loss of control”, also adding on, the official authorities said that they are also working on uncovering the facts behind this unlucky fallout.
