Two individuals were arrested, on January 27, 2025, for allegedly killing a man near the Kondhwa Police Station limits in Pune. The deceased has been identified as Mallesh Kupendra Koli (32), a resident of Gokul Nagar, Pune.

The Police stated that the incident happened around 3:30 pm when the victim and the two accused, Barya Sanjay Khude (21) and Akash Shubash Mankar (23), were consuming alcohol together near the Kondhwa crematorium. The trio, who were reportedly known to each other, became involved in a heated argument. The argument, which was initially verbal, soon escalated into violence.

It is alleged that Khude and Mankar attacked Koli with cement blocks and sticks, which led to the victim’s death. The motive behind the attack is still under investigation. Police arrived at the scene shortly after the incident and confirmed Koli’s death due to the severe injuries inflicted during the assault.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajkumar Shinde stated, “The murder was a result of a dispute among friends while drinking. The accused are known criminals with prior records. We have arrested them, and further investigation is underway to understand the full circumstances surrounding the attack.”

The Kondhwa police have registered a case under Sections 103(1) and 3(5) of the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS). Police Sub Inspector Gavde is currently handling the investigation, which is focused on determining the exact circumstances leading to the violent escalation of the argument.
