With the retirement of Cheteshwar Pujara, the Indian team says goodbye to one of its most dependable test cricket batsmen. Pujara’s legacy will remain as a symbol of grit, patience, and determination as he is one of India’s finest test cricket batsmen. He has officially announced his retirement from all forms of International cricket. It is notable that he had a spectacular 13 year old cricket career. The Cricket maestro made the announcement on social media, showing heartfelt gratitude to his fans, teammates and the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) for all of their collective support throughout the entirety of his career.
Puajara is known for his calm nature and skilled batting , he was a crucial top-order batsman Pujara scored 7000 test runs out of which he had 19 centuries and 35 half centuries. In the 2018 Border-Gavakar trophy he showed absolute dominance and patience.
Pujara, in his statements said that it was an honour to represent India at the highest level of sports possible. He also said that he had given everything to the game and his country, also conveying that he would fondly cherish all the memories he spent wearing the Indian jersey.
Though he had announced his retirement from international cricket, he has confirmed that he will continue playing domestic cricket and remain involved in the sport. Pujara was poured in with tributes from current as well as former players, praising him as a true player. The BCCI also thanked him for his service and wished him good luck for his future endeavours.
