On Wednesday, cricket legend Kapil Dev is all set to launch Indians first franchise based amateur golf league, Trinity golf champions league(TGCL) in Pune. 

In a distinctive team format, the tournament aims to unite corporate professionals’ business leaders and ardent enthusiasts while fusing rivalry and friendship.

With franchise-backed teams the TGCL offers amateur golfers a chance to demonstrate their abilities in a professional-style setting in contrast to traditional formats. The league’s goal according to its organizers is to foster a thriving player community while providing fans with a novel way to interact with the game.

Speaking prior to the launch Kapil Dev stated that he was personally invested in the initiative which aims to democratize golf in India. 

You will be up at night thinking about this game because it is so beautiful. With TGCL we hope to expand golf’s reach beyond elite circles, increase accessibility and encourage more people to take up the game, he stated.

The launch city was selected to be Pune which is becoming known as a center for sports innovation. This league will help amateur players with new opportunities and promote their involvement.

It will also help put the city on the Indian golf map.Eight teams will be in the field, each consisting of a mix of professional golfers, amateur club members, and celebrities. 

Golfers Gaganjeet Bhullari and Ridhima Dilawari, celebrities like Karun Nair and Murali Kartik, and coaches like Gaurab Ghei are participating in the tournament.

This week will mark a significant milestone for Indian golf and the start of the Trinity Golf Champions League which will give the sport a new twist.
