On Thursday, the governing body of world soccer announced that FIFA had received more than 1.5 million ticket applications from 210 countries within 24 hours of the presale draw for the 2026 World Cup.
The FIFA World Cup will be bigger than ever before, with 48 teams participating instead of the usual 32. The matches will mainly be hosted by Mexico, Canada, and the U.S., featuring around 104 matches across 16 cities. Naturally, the fans from across the globe are thrilled and enthusiastic about the event.
The highest demand has come primarily from the United States, Mexico, and Canada, followed by Argentina, Colombia, Brazil, England, Spain, Portugal, and Germany.
Fans can apply for tickets until 11:00 ET on September 19. The process works more like a lucky draw, since the time of application within the given window doesn’t affect a fan’s chance of securing tickets. Those who will be successful will start receiving invitations via email to buy tickets within a specific slot, 29 September onwards. The pricing will cost around 60 dollars, but due to the dynamic pricing, the cost will fluctuate depending on the market demands.
With the opening match scheduled at the iconic Azteca Stadium in Mexico City on June 11, 2026, the organising committee is all set to host one of the biggest sporting events in the history of football.
Football is more than just a sport – it is a language spoken across cultures, uniting people from different cultures from every corner of the world. The game embodies passion, hard work, dedication, and most importantly, shared joy, which makes it even more special for the athletes.
As the 2026 FIFA World Cup approaches, it is not just about the goals and trophies – it’s about the moments and memories that celebrate the beauty of the most-awaited tournament in the world.
