India beat Pakistan by seven wickets in the Women’s T20 Asia Cup match held on Saturday, September 5, at the Dubai International Stadium thanks to an excellent bowling performance which reduced Pakistan to just 55 for 7 wickets in 18.1 overs.
Shree Charani , left arm spinner, shone as she scalped 3/7 wickets in the innings, whereas Prema Rawat, leg spinner bowler, took 3/9 wickets. 78 dot balls were bowled by India’s bowlers in the innings.
Pakistan started well in the innings as they scored 27 runs without loss in just over four overs. The opening pair Muneeba Ali (13) and Shawaal Zulfiqar (14) looked good against the seamers but the team found it difficult once India introduced spinners in the game.
Pakistan were bowled out for just 9 runs and dropped from 27/0 to 36/6 wickets. The wickets taken by Charani were those of Gull Feroza, Zulfiqar and Ayesha Zafar. Rawat and Deepti Sharma, who got 2/5 wickets in 3.1 overs, troubled Pakistan. Fatima Sana was also dismissed by Deepti in this innings.
The captain of the Indian team, Harmanpreet Kaur, playing her 150th T20 international under her captaincy, made the most of the turners and got her team a well-deserved reward by bowling the spinners early.
India chased down the easy total without any problem and won their third consecutive match in the competition. In previous matches, India beat Thailand and Hong Kong and have made it to the semifinals of the tournament.
Pakistan, who had won their opening game against Thailand, now need to beat Hong Kong in their final match against Hong Kong in Group A. Group B includes Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, UAE and Indonesia.
