An MoU has been signed between Pune’s Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Associations of India (CREDAI) and the Singapore-based building and construction authority (BCA). The collaboration aims to change the building quality practices by developing strategies that focus on sustainability and innovation.

On Wednesday, an MoU was signed between Heng Teck Thai, the executive director of BCA International (BCAI), and Manish Jain, who is currently the president of CREDAI Pune. He was recently appointed the president of CREDAI in April 2025.

The foundation of BCAI  functions on the idea of sharing expertise in sustainability, productivity, construction quality and advanced technologies.

An 80-member delegation was formed to develop an agreement that would include developers, architects, policymakers, and government authorities. The developments in the MoU indicate that BCAI will facilitate Green Mark Certifications. The certification promotes super-low-energy buildings,  customised training programs, site visits, and best practice exchanges that focus on green building standards, construction quality, and advanced construction techniques.

“This collaboration marks a significant step towards CREDAI  Pune’s vision of promoting sustainability, innovation and global best practices in construction. Partnering with BCAI will help our members adopt international benchmarks and move closer to India’s net-zero commitments.”

The delegation strengthened global collaboration by studying advanced practices in the field of construction, which includes housing solutions, urban development, and sustainable construction, and best practices were adopted.

During the delegation, Dr Shilpak Ambule, Indian High Commissioner to Singapore, highlighted that the Singaporean companies’ interests have grown over a period of time to invest in Indian companies. Pune has recently been marked as a growing hub for foreign investments. An assurance has been guaranteed by the High Commissioner to ensure smooth collaboration.

Apart from green certifications, the partnership will focus on areas such as networking opportunities. Delegates will be able to participate in Singapore’s international Built Environment Week. India is thriving in the technological sector, and multiple technological hubs have increased the plight of future generations. The adaptability and feasibility of technological access have enabled this collaboration to focus on the implementation of smart and sustainable solutions. Advanced construction technologies can transform India’s real estate sector.

A Singapore study tour was conducted in 2025, which included the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA), Housing and Development Board (HDB), and Building and Construction Authority (BCA). Delegates were able to interact with renowned architects who explored innovations such as smart zoning, green integration and prefabricated technology. The study tour helped CREDAI understand world-class technology.

“We are delighted to partner with CREDAI Pune. Together, we aim to empower the Indian construction sector with Singapore’s expertise in green and smart building practices,” stated Heng Teck Thai.
