The Malayalam film, ‘Lokah: Chapter 1 – Chandra’ is gaining a lot of attention at the box office. It’s a female superhero film and is directed by Dominic Arun starring Kalyani Priyadarshan. It’s been 23 days of its release and still the tickets are getting sold out, it collected Rs 1.75 crore on its fourth Friday.
At its second week of release, the film collected Rs 47 crore. And as soon as the film hit the third week it actually did collect Rs 27.1 crore out of which the Malayalam dubbed version brought in Rs 21 crore, the Tamil dubbed version brought in Rs 3.6 crore and the Telugu dubbed version collected Rs 1.3 crore while the Hindi dubbed version got Rs 1.2 crore.
The film has collected Rs 130.55 crore.
The film had an average occupancy rate of 24.52% for its Malayalam version. Morning shows saw a turnout of 10.32% which rose up to 14.74% during the afternoon and exceeded to 48.50% at night shows.
‘Lokah: Chapter 1 – Chandra’ marks the beginning of a Malayalam female superhero franchise in multiple languages. The project is produced under Dulquer Salmaan’s production house. Both the houses, Tovino Thomas portraying the character of Chathan and Dulquer Salmaan portraying the character of Odiyan, are a part of the same franchise for this production.
This film featured Kalyani Priyadarshan as the character of Chandra, a secretive woman who, upon arriving in Bengaluru, became entangled with an organ trafficking ring. Later, in the story, she is depicted as Kalliyankattu Neeli, a supernatural entity.
