Malayalam’s blockbuster superhero film ‘Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra’ has become the highest-grossing Malayalam film worldwide. It is directed by Dominic Arun and produced by Dulquer Salmaan under Wayfarer Films. Since the release on 28th August 2025, the movie has beaten Mohanlal’s ‘L2: Empuraan’.
The film stars Kalyani Priyadarshan and is rewriting box office history as it has become the most successful Indian film led by a female actor. Lokah continues to pull crowds to theatres weeks after its release with its mix of dark fantasy, action, and thrilling drama.
Early data from sacnilk.com said that ‘Lokah’ has earned Rs 268 crore worldwide and has broken the box office records of Mohanlal’s popular movies like ‘Empuraan’ and ‘Thudarum’, and has now become the highest-earning female-led film in South India. Before the movie is made available on OTT platforms, it is predicted that the film will earn over Rs 300 crore. Apart from Naslen and Kalyani Priyadarshan, the film also features Durga Vinod, Chandu Salimkumar, Tovino Thomas, Dulquer Salmaan, Arun Kurian, and Sam Mohan.
With a captivating story and beautiful visuals, Lokah has effectively managed to capture the audience in South India and beyond. The Malayalam fantasy film certainly raised the bar with its thematic visuals, performances of the actors, and enthralling background score to excite and attract youth, while also including mythical elements, like goblins, clans, and warriors.
South Indian viewers are drawn to Lokah because of its strong storyline and engaging scenes.
There were rumours being spread on social media about the imminent online release of ‘Lokah: Chapter 1′.
