Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan has clarified his stance on OTT platforms, stating that he does not have any bias against these platforms. This was addressed at the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit in Delhi on Saturday, 7th December 2025.
With reference to his latest release, “Sitaare Zameen Par,” which skipped an OTT release after its theatrical run and was made available for a charge of ₹100 through the pay-per-view (PPV) model on YouTube.
He justified this by mentioning that the intention of this was just to experiment with a different distribution model and that it was not meant as a sweeping industry change.
Furthermore added that what matters to him the most is that people watch and enjoy his films regardless of the platform, be it theaters, OTT or YouTube.
Aamir Khan urged the industry to give audiences the freedom to choose how they consume films rather than enforcing rigid norms like “only theater” or “only OTT.”
He also praised India’s growing digital penetration and the “digital boom,” saying being digitally present is the key to staying relevant, and that multiple platforms such as theater, OTT, PPV and satellite can only coexist if used in the right way.
On a professional work front, Aamir Khan was last seen in a rather underwhelming cameo in the Rajinikanth starrer “Coolie,” directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj.
Rumours have been floating around that a potential collaboration between the two has been shelved, but Aamir Khan explicitly shut down these rumours, confirming that there are discussions going on and they shall soon meet for a detailed narration, implying that although there aren’t any final decisions made, a project is “still on the cards.”
