Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, on Sunday, made some strong statements at the ‘Vote Chor Gaddi Chodd’ rally at Ramlila ground, alleging the BJP is using unfair means to win elections and that the Election Commission is “conspiring” with the party. She exclaimed that the party is incapable of winning an election fair and square through ballot papers and that the election commission will be answerable to the people for ‘stealing’ their voting rights.
She also went ballistic on criticising the government, further stating that it has failed the country on all fronts. Citing economic policies, unemployment rates, exam paper leaks, and price rises. Ms Vadra accuses the Modi government of pushing the youth of the nation towards substance abuse and indulging in betting practices through betting apps.
She goes on to draw associations between the betting apps and the PMO, claiming that there is someone involved from the Prime Minister’s Office in the supposed betting scam, although she did not name anyone. Again, she questioned the House for not batting an eye and avoiding discussions about the aforementioned issues.
Furthermore, the election commissioners were also shot at by the Congress leader, who alleged that they were ‘attacking’ democracy by deliberately playing into the unfair election practices. Invoking the Bihar polls and Special Intensive Revision, where 6.5 million people were deemed ineligible or illegitimate, she questioned the government’s decision to pay Rs 10,000 to the people during the election, describing it as an act of ‘vote chori’.
These come after several heated exchanges between the government and the Opposition in the winter session of the Parliament, where she blames the government for avoiding conversations about EVMs, polling, counting, campaigning, and other related issues.
