In a sharp exchange over Marathi identity politics, rival parties traded barbs on Saturday. Shiv Sena spokesperson Shaina NC accused opponents of exploiting the “Marathi manus” narrative without delivering tangible results, alleging that those claiming to champion the cause “did nothing for them for 25 years.” Responding to questions on shifting alliances, NCP spokesperson Avinash Adik said political decisions at the grassroots often reflect local realities. “When local aspirations take priority over state and national alliances, we have to respect the sentiment of the workers,” he said. The remarks underline growing tensions as parties recalibrate strategies ahead of local contests.
