The vote counting process for Maharashtra’s civic bodies elections, including the high-stakes Brihanmumbai Municipal Election (BMC) and Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), has begun at 10 am following a tense polling day marked by controversies and sharp political confrontation. Elections were held on Thursday across 29 municipal corporations, covering major urban centres such as Mumbai, Pune, Nashik, Thane, Navi Mumbai, Latur, Kolhapur, Baramati, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
As per the State Election Commission, overall voter turnout across the civic bodies was estimated between 46% and 50%.
