Retired Air Marshal Jeetendra Mishra has been appointed as the first full-time Chief Executive Officer of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. As the institution shifts its primary focus from temple construction to managing immense devotee turnouts, massive donation streams, and ongoing infrastructure, this event marks a significant administrative overhaul.

Having retired from the Indian Air Force on April 30,2026 Mishra brings nearly four decades of military experience to the role. A native of Uttar Pradesh’s Deoria district, he previously served as the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Western Air Command starting in January 2025. During his tenure, he led the command through May 2025’s Operation Sindoor, which was a high intensity response after the terror attack in Pehalgam claimed 25 lives. The operation featured a decisive S-400 air defence system deployment. Later, Mishra revealed desperate attempts by Pakistan to locate the batteries using sleeper cells. This strategic leadership earned him the Sarvottam Yudh Seva Medal, one of the nation’s highest decorations awarded to an elite group of seven officers.

The choice to bring in a distinguished military officer arises as the Trust aims to implement strict financial scrutiny, professional administration, and improved security measures. The structural shift follows a June donation embezzlement scandal that led to an SIT probe and the resignations of three senior officials, including former general secretary Champat Rai, who was ultimately cleared of theft allegations. Selection committee member Suresh Haware emphasized that Mishra’s proven operational record makes him ideal for instilling disciplined governance and restoring public trust.

The Trust executed broader organizational changes alongside Mishra’s appointment. Swami Govind Dev Girl ji has replaced Champat Rai as general secretary, while Nirmala Yadav joins as the Trust’s first female member among three new trustees. Alongside, Sharad Sharma, VHP leader was appointed spokesman, with trustee Mahesh Bhagchandka expected to take over treasurer duties. With a full-time executive now at the helm reporting directly to the general secretary, the Ayodhya temple aims to operate with military grade efficiency.
