Adani Group has teamed up with Brazil’s Embraer to build Embraer’s regional jets in India. These jets are designed for short and medium trips. They can carry between 70 to 146 customers. The partnership aims to enhance regional air travel and help to grow the aviation industry.
As reported by The Times of India, Adani Aerospace has recently entered into a memorandum of understanding with Embraer from Brazil. A formal announcement is anticipated to happen later this month during the Hyderabad Air Show. No details for the location, investment and timeline for the assembly line have been disclosed.
This is happening as India seeks to become part of the selected group of nations that have a commercial fixed-wing aircraft assembly line. India has one of the fastest-growing aviation markets in the world, with more than 1800 domestic airlines on order, mostly by Air India, Akasa Air and Indigo. The government is also motivating global aerospace leaders to establish assembly lines in India to develop local skills and create employment opportunities.
Currently, Star Air is flying Embraer Aircraft in the commercial segment, and they are expected to sign more orders. Since Airbus and Boeing do not have single-aisle planes available for delivery until the next decade for new orders, some Indian startups are also planning to start their journey using Embraer planes
The collaboration between Adani-Embraer is expected to increase regional connectivity, as Airbus and Boeing are experiencing lengthy delivery times for a new single-aisle aircraft, as mentioned in a report.
Daily policy support is under consideration, which includes financial incentives for orders from the final assembly line. These incentives may decrease as the order will keep increasing, maybe after every 50 orders, according to an official source.
Embraer has almost 50 aircraft of 11 different models in India, in commercial, military and business aviation. Its Indian subsidiary is also exploring new business opportunities to fulfil growing demands in the regional aircraft market.
Raul Villaron, Senior Vice-President at Embraer, added that there is a strong market for 80 to 146-seat aircraft and 500 new airplanes will be needed in India in the upcoming 20 years.
