A class 10 student of Seventh-Day Adventist School, Ahmedabad, was allegedly stabbed by a class 9 junior over a minor dispute on 7th August, 2025 (Tuesday), and succumbed to the injuries later that night. Following this, a protest escalated at the school premises on the morning of 8th August 2025 (Wednesday), leading to damage to school properties, assaults on teachers, and the principal.
The incident sparked outrage, and the mob went out of control, with members of VHP and Bajrang Dal further adding to the wrath. The protest decreased around 2 pm after the interventions of senior police officials and local politicians, who held meetings with the protestors.
Joint Commissioner of Police for Crime, Sharad Singhal, said, “The protestors demand a Crime Branch investigation, which was granted. Further, the CCTV footage of the crime scene is under review for any possible evidence erasure. Additionally, the accused minor was placed under detention yesterday, while another minor is under questioning.”
District Education Minister Rohit Chaudhary served a notice to the school management on Wednesday, seeking an explanation for the incident. “The school administration has been asked to provide a thorough explanation on the incident, where security was stationed, whether the incident occurred on campus or nearby, how the blood-soaked victim student entered the school after the attack, and the steps the administration took.”
The DEO submitted a report to the state government highlighting the negligence of the school management on this issue. As per the primary investigations, firstly, the school did not inform the DEO after the incident took place, and secondly, they did not provide any medical support to the injured student.
Praful Pansheriya, the state minister of education, denounced the killing as “a red flag for a civilized society.” “A Class 9 boy murdered a Class 10 boy at Seventh Day School in Ahmedabad, which is a tragic incident,” he stated in a video message. In addition, he pleaded for peace and cautioned the populace against breaking the law. To determine the precise circumstances that led to the occurrence, police say they are conducting an investigation.
