The American box office total for “Barbie” surpassed $537 million on Tuesday, making it the most successful film in Warner Bros. Discovery’s 100-year history. For the title, the movie outperformed Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight,” which brought in $536 million in 2008.

Barbie, the fantasy comedy directed by Greta Gerwig, has surpassed milestones in the business ever since its debut. First off, this Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling film broke the record for highest-grossing film ever made by a single female filmmaker. Then it became the first movie directed by a woman to gross $1 billion. It seems that the Barbenheimer feud is still going strong. The success of Barbie at the box office is still growing as the movie reaches its fourth weekend.

“Barbie,” which has held the top spot for four straight weekends, has had a crazy run. It entered the $1 billion club after only 17 days in theaters, making it the eighth Warner Bros. picture in the studio’s 100-year history to do so. As the studio’s highest-grossing global release of all time, it may ultimately surpass “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2” ($1.34 billion) in box office receipts. It’s also anticipated that the box office records will continue for some time. As of right now, “Barbie” is the largest domestic release of 2023, surpassing Universal’s animated “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” ($574 million). At this pace, “Barbie,” which recently crossed the $1.2 billion global mark, has a chance of surpassing “Mario” ($1.35 billion) as the year’s highest-grossing international movie.

Barbie’s iconic doll was brought to life on the big screen in large part because of Margot Robbie, who stars in the movie as the stereotypical Barbie. She stands to earn around $50 million in salary and box office incentives as the actress and producer of the summer’s greatest success, Variety has reported. Gerwig is also anticipated to win sizable incentives due to the film’s phenomenal popularity.

The Margot Robbie-starring movie has held the top spot at the box office since it debuted and is on pace to earn the most money of the whole year. Box office analysts anticipate “Barbie” to keep bringing in revenue in the upcoming weeks since it has no competition from new releases and is riding a tide of favorable word-of-mouth.
