The multi-genre music festival Lollapalooza is returning to India for its second edition on January 27th and 28th, 2024, to be held at Mahalaxmi Race Course, Mumbai. After the success of its first edition in India, Lollapalooza India made the official announcement of the second edition on their social media handles with the hashtag #Twiceas EPIC. The return of this event is garnering massive excitement from the Indian audience, as the announcement claims the festival will hold “Twice the anticipation. Twice the excitement. Twice the fun!”.

BookMyShow Live is the promoter and co-producer for Lollapalooza India, along with Perry Farrell and C3 Presents as global producers. An exclusive round of pre-sales of the tickets has been announced for RuPay credit card holders on August 23, 2023. General ticket sales commence on August 27, 2023. Lollapalooza brought a unique array of musical genres like pop, hip-hop, indie, rock, EDM, etc. to its Indian audience last year. Indian sensations in music like AP Dhillon and Prateek Kuhad, along with international artists such as Jackson Wang and Imagine Dragons, were the highlights of the first edition. The line-up for the coming festival has yet to be revealed.

India remains the first country in Asia to hold Lollapalooza after its first successful edition in 2023. A lot of excitement and anticipation await the upcoming festival. Owen Roncon, chief of business, and live entertainment, at BookMyShow, said in a statement (as mentioned in an article by Mint), “Lollapalooza India emerged as a breath of fresh air within the live music landscape, introducing many firsts that were truly appreciated in its first-ever Asia edition hosted in India. The overwhelming response and incomparable avalanche of emotions that streamed amongst a thriving crowd in the inaugural edition make this announcement of a second edition of Lollapalooza India 2024 even more special for us.”

The live events industry in India hit bottom after the repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic. The post-pandemic period is witnessing a series of popular live events from the music industry, Lollapalooza 2023 being one of them. Such events have been the main attraction for the youth of India. As per the data mentioned in an article by Mint, Lollapalooza 2023 itself accounted for about 28% of the audience from Gen Z. People from different parts of the country came to Mumbai to experience the festival, as 35% of the crowd was from outside Mumbai.  It is expected that the second edition of this famous music event will further enhance the live events industry in India with its unique line-up and the promised fun experience for the Indian audience.
