Pune: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is presenting the Union Budget 2026-27 today, Sunday, February 1, 2026.
As per the current update, the budget focuses heavily on sustaining growth with a massive infrastructural push, relief for international travelers and students and strategic investments in technology and healthcare.
Key update –
Boost for Students– emittances for education and medical purposes under LRS(Liberalised Remittance Scheme) reduced from 5% to 2%.
Big relief on Foreign Travels– Overseas tour packages reduced from 5%/20% to 2%
Strategic Focus: The budget allocates funding for a “Viksit Bharat” push, prioritizing next-gen infrastructure, AI-driven healthcare.
