Facebook, a very popular social media platform by Meta, has announced new additions to its Facebook Dating option. These consist of an AI model called the Dating Assistant along with an option called the Meet Cute, both of which were created to help with the “swipe fatigue” of its users. There are two additional features launched under the matches tab, and the four together will soon be available to use across the United States and Canada. The platform also claimed that these features will provide “fresh ways to connect with the people you want to date”.

Dating Assistant, as per Meta, is a chat assistant that will help users find better matches for themselves through personalisation. It runs based on preferences set by the user and shows custom matches. It allows users to put more unique information than the generic height and background. Moreover, it also advises them on ways to improve their profile and gives dating ideas.

Next is Meet Cute, a feature that helps tackle the hassle of decision-making in online dating. It is an advanced feature that matches users based on their personalized matching algorithm. The matches have the option to chat and move further, or unmatch in case they are uninterested in the conversation. The platform also stated that this option is ideal for those users who are now tired of swiping and want to explore new ways of expanding their dating pool. As of now, these matches will be made weekly, but Facebook Dating is considering other frequencies as well, with an easy opt-out option for whenever they want.

This feature of Facebook Dating was launched in 2019 in the United States and several other countries except for India. There are reports of the company considering expansion of their dating services to other countries as well, but India still remains out of that list, as of yet.
