Gigi Hadid was arrested for illegal possession of drugs during her vacation in the Cayman Islands on July 10, but the news broke today. Hadid and her friend Leah Nicole McCarthy were in possession of Marijuana and Paraphernalia. Cayman Islands customs and border control said that they were allegedly held on the grounds of importation of drugs and vessels used for the consumption of drugs.
The pair, who were traveling from the United States of America to the Cayman Islands, were caught while they were getting their luggage checked. Following the check, a small amount of marijuana was recovered. A local publication, Cayman Marl Road, reported that the two were kept in Prisoner Detention Center and were released on bail on July 12. They were fined $1,200, however, there wasn’t a recorded conviction.
Following the week of arrest and her vacation, she posted pictures of her having fun on the islands, one of her pictures was captioned, “All’s well that ends well”. “Gigi was traveling with marijuana purchased legally in NYC with a medical license,” her representative told E! News. “It has also been legal for medical use in Grand Cayman since 2017. Her record remains clear, and she enjoyed the rest of her time on the island.”
