Two fatal accidents shook Pimpri-Chinchwad this week that killed three individuals, including a 28-year-old biker and a 38-year-old labourer. The accidents, which occurred in the Pimple Saudagar and Wakad belts, have again brought to the fore the issues of rash driving and road safety in the city.

Man Dies In High-Speed Motorcycle Crash With PMPML Bus In Pimple Saudagar

In the first accident, a young man named Mayur Anand Rasal (28, Pimple Gurav resident) lost his life in a high-speed accident while driving his motorcycle. The mishap took place in the BRT lane near PK Chowk on the Bhosari-Kokane Chowk road.

In police reports, Rasal lost control of his speeding bike, which initially hit a divider and then collided with the back of a PMPML bus. The rider suffered grievous injuries during the collision and passed away shortly thereafter.

The driver of the bus, Tanaji Kisan Telange (38, Bhosari), subsequently lodged a complaint at the Sangvi Police Station. Police verified that both the motorcycle and the bus had suffered damage in the collision.

Worker Dies In Wakad Car Accident

In the second deadly accident, Dinesh Shridhar Walunjkar (38, Wakad) was killed after he was struck by a car at Sakharam Chowk in Wakad on Wednesday morning.

Police added that Manohar Barku Shitkal (49, Kalewadi), who was riding a Scorpio car, has been arrested for negligent driving. The accident occurred at about 9:15 a.m., when Shitkal reportedly drove the car without looking around.

Dinesh and his friend Mukesh were cleaning a manhole when the accident occurred. The car suddenly deviated from the road and rammed Mukesh, who was killed instantly. A case has been filed and investigation is ongoing.

These back-to-back crashes at Pimpri-Chinchwad have brought into focus the immediate necessity of tighter traffic rule enforcement, particularly against speeding and irresponsible driving, to avoid more deaths on urban roads.
