The PMRDA (Pune metropolitan region development authority) has extended the deadline for the Pune Metro line-3 project work which connects Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar to September 2025, which was previously March 2025. This decision took place, after a recent meeting of the state with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, along with a request from the contractor, according to PMRDA contractor Yogesh Mhase.

The Pune Metro Line-3 is a 23 mm elevated metro rail project, which connects Hinjewadi, the IT hub of Pune, to Shivajinagar. This project is a Public-Private Partnership awarded by the PMRDA to a collective consisting of TATA Group’s TRIL Urban Transport Private Limited (TUTPL) and Siemens Project Ventures. The delay in work was caused due to permits related to land acquisition, tenders etc, which has further caused the contractor to speed up the work.

“The state has given the green signal to hand over the land of Raj Bhavan for Metro station work in the recent meeting with CM Devendra Fadnavis. In Modern College land handover work has also been initiated. We have discussed with PMC officials for developing amenity spaces near Pune Metro line- 3 stations for parking,” said Yogesh Mhase, according to a news report.

As stated by the officials, according to a news portal, 82% of the project has been completed, and work on escalators, traffic signals, electrical systems and minor repairs are in the final stage at 23 stations, including Baner, Sankalnagar and Civil Court. The duct installation and railway track laying has been completed. The construction for this project had begun in the year 2021, and the first metro pillar was set up in April 2022.
