The congestion, mostly around the IT Hubs especially around Hinjewadi and other industrial zones have been ever increasing now leading to daily issues among commuters. The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has begun to implement newer measures to tackle these traffic issues and help these areas combat congestion.
Especially with urbanisation and newer construction works and sites the expansion of industrial buildings and complexes keep growing rapidly, it has led to extreme traffic congestion and even accidents on the roads that is affecting overall productivity when it comes to work and even logistics and moving of goods and different items.
Dr Yogesh Mhase, the Commissioner of Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority, has embarked on a new proposal for better and direct connectivity of highways, especially for the major industrial hubs and spots in Pune which includes areas like IT Park, Hinjewadi, Ranjangaon as well as areas around Pirangut.
Ranjangaon industrial area will see a new road upgrade of over 12 km for better connectivity with Shirur Rural Highway and will cost approximately 19.9 crore. Hinjewadi IT Park area will be having multiple connecting roadways which will also include a 1.5 km, 36 meter wide road costing 13 crore and another stretch of about 3.5 km of around 30 crore. Pirangut will be having a 7.1 km road connecting Uravade to Hinjewadi Phase 3 which will cost about 45 crore.
About 60 km of new roads will be constructed around major industrial parks in Pune with an estimated cost of about 203 crores of rupees. And these in turn will help employees and industrialists save their valuable time and with better efficiency when it comes to dealing with overall congestion in Pune. And the PMRDA with these initiatives aim to promise relief to the citizens as they promise to carry out these changes providing long term benefits as well.
