On Friday, around 4:43 am, a massive fire started in a manufacturing factory covering around 6,000 square feet in Manjari. The factory was constructed primarily with iron angles and metal sheets. Four fire tenders from Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) fire brigade and Pune fire brigade rushed to the area where fire broke after receiving the emergency alert.
The firefighters took relentless efforts for about 30 to 45 minutes to bring the fire under the control, after that a cooling operation in order to prevent future incidents was conducted to tame the further flare-ups in the factory.
Careful inspection was done by the fire fighters to confirm there was no worker trapped inside the factory during the operation. A JCB was used to remove the metal sheet in order to make the space for fire fighters to gain entry and check the premises thoroughly but there were no causalities. All the workers were safe and no one was found inside. Apart from all the electronic items destroyed no any such evidence to ascertain the cause was found.
Although the exact amount of monetary loss is not yet disclosed but the factory was completely gutted by the fire, causing huge loss to the property and destruction of various equipment and materials including CNC machines, speakers, panel saw cutting machines, fiber materials, plywood, paint cans, furniture and electrical wiring .
The cause of the fire remains unknown, said the fire brigade officials. The incident is under investigation to determine the exact reason which caused fire and flared-up the whole factory. Electrical short circuit or other factors could be the reasons for the incident. Officials are working on assessing the total damage and identifying the safety lapse that could have been a contribution to the incident, rest will be disclosed after the investigation is done.
