The counting of votes for the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) elections is in progress, along with results from 28 other municipal corporations across Maharashtra. Early trends indicate that the BJP is ahead in 39 seats, while Ajit Pawar’s NCP is ahead in 14 seats in Pimpri-Chinchwad. The political body is also ahead in 4 seats in Pune.

Apart from Pimpri-Chinchwad, the voting also took place in major urban centres, such as Mumbai, Nagpur, Thane, Navi Mumbai, Nashik, and Pune.

Notably, Ajit Pawar’s NCP has joined hands with his uncle Sharad Pawar’s faction – NCP (SP) for the first time since they split in 2023. Thus, the two factions of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) have tied up to counter the ruling ally, the BJP, in the municipal corporation elections.
