Ahead of the Maharashtra Municipal Corporation election results, leader of opposition Rahul Gandhi tweeted that Election Commission gaslights citizens leading to collapse of trust in democracy. In response, BJP national spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari says, “Dynamic leaders look for scapegoats after every electoral defeat so that Congress workers do not question the Gandhi-Vadra leadership. Their tweet clearly indicates that the Congress is heading for a heavy defeat in the BMC elections. This is not limited to one poll- at times they blame EVMs, at other SIR and sometimes the Election Commission. But when these allegations reach the courts, they either avoid legal scrutiny or their claims are proven false, whether in Haryana, Maharashtra or elsewhere. Despite this, such tweets continue because there is growing anger among Congress workers, many of whom are increasingly vocal against the Gandhi-Vadra family. Instead of introspection, the family shifts blame to avoid internal dissent.”
