A man was found shot dead at the residence of Kaushal Kishore, Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs of India, in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, earlier today. The incident is said to have taken place in the wee hours of Friday morning at the Minister’s house itself.

The deceased has been identified as Vinay Shrivastava, age 30. Shrivastava was said to be a close friend of both Kaushal Kishore and his son, Vikas Kishore. The licensed pistol used to shoot Shrivastava has been identified as belonging to Vikas Kishore himself, as it is registered under his name. However, the Union Minister has stated that he does not know who used the pistol or who was present at his house at the time. According to him, his son flew out to New Delhi yesterday evening and has been there ever since. He was allegedly not present at the time the murder took place.

According to statements by the police until now, there were allegedly six people in the house. Shrivastava was shot sometime after dinner. His body has been sent for a post-mortem, and all those who were identified as being present at the house have been arrested and subsequently interrogated by the police, who have also procured CCTV footage for further investigation.

In addition, forensic teams, along with the Dog Squad and Crime Branch, are also involved in the investigation. As per DCP West Lucknow Rahul Raj, Vinay Shrivastava’s brother, Vikas Shrivastava, has filed a complaint and an official FIR. The deceased’s brother has contended that there is a possibility of there having been an altercation amongst those present at the residence, after which Shrivastava may have been shot.

The Union Minister has expressed his grievances over the incident and stated that the case is a matter of ongoing investigation and that the guilty shall soon be brought to justice.
