Out of 152 Municipal Corporation seats in Nagpur, the trends show BJP leading with 96 seats, leaving Congress far behind at 35. It is almost certain that the next Nagpur mayor would be a BJP candidate.

In the previous civic poll election, held in 2027, the BJP secured a landslide triumph by acquiring 108 of 151 seats. The process of vote counting is still underway across wards. More clarity is expected as additional rounds are completed.

For the Nagpur Municipal Corporation election, counting of votes began at 10 am on Friday. The polling was held on January 15 alongside elections to 28 other local bodies across Maharashtra. The election saw a voter turnout of 51 per cent on Thursday, January 15. Among those who casted their vote were Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat.
