After the resignation of the Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar on July 21st, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) announced CP Radhakrishan, the governor of Maharashtra as their vice-presidential candidate, which is about to happen on September 9th, Tuesday.

CP Radhakarishnan 68, now a governor of Maharashtra was a two time Member of Parliament (MP) of the Coimbatore constituency. He is also known for his work as President of BJP, TamilNadu. He was chosen unanimously by the NDA alliance as his ideological stands are firm, and the other alliance parties think that he would fill in the void that Jagdeep Dhankhar has left.

This announcement was given on last Sunday, 17th August after the discussion at the BJP Parliamentary Board. It is a well known fact that this board is headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The news was given out by the BJP’s national president and union minister JP Nadda.

Nadda also mentioned that the party will soon seek the opposition party on the candidate’s choice for the election. It is allegedly said that on Sunday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh spoke to Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge in order to gain support for CP Radhakrishnan, the NDA candidate.

The former Vice-President of the country, Jagdeep Dhankhar quitted his post, citing health reasons. The re-election of the Vice-President will be held under the supervision of Rajnath Singh along with Kirran Rijju who is the election agent for this matter. It was earlier informed to us by the Election Commission of India (ECI) that PC Mody, Rajya Sabha Secretary General is the Returning Officer for this vice-presidential election. Everybody is awaiting Congress’ s response or support to the candidate. Various alliance parties of INDIA, like DMK’s leader M.K Stalin have urged Congress to nominate a candidate as soon as possible.
