Pakistan finally broke the silence and was ready to have talks with India to discuss issues with India, as said by Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime minister Ishaq Dar on Friday. He spoke that Pakistan would be more than ready to have an extensive dialogue with India regarding Kashmir and any other pending issues between the two countries.
Dar further spoke to several journalists that were waiting outside the Pakistani parliament. He said that his discussions and dialogues with India will not be limited to certain issues but have a wider range of agendas. “Talks, whenever held, will be not just Kashmir but on all issues.” Dar said when asked about his dialogue with India. Upon being questioned about the interference of the United States of America, he claimed to not have had any mediation from a third party, and that he received a call from the US and explicitly stated that Pakistan did not wish to have a war with India. “We were told to sit down at a neutral location, and I said if that is the case, we are willing to meet” he further claimed. India has also, in addition, denied any claims regarding a ceasefire by the US.
This decision was taken after the completion of 3 months since the operation Sindoor was put into motion. The operation, which took place on May 7th 2025, was a response from India to the terror attack that took place in Pahalgam in April, killing 26 civilians.
However, on this topic, India has firmly kept its stand, saying that talks with Pakistan will only happen once the parts of Kashmir under Pakistan’s control are given back, with no other option open. India has also stated to only continue with the inclusion of talks and cease on issues related to cross-border terrorism. Pakistan further reiterates its willingness to have a diplomatic dialogue on a wider range of subjects, despite India’s firm stance on the topic.
