The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has started a new mobile app called “PMC Road Mitra”. The app is designed to help people report problems on city roads. Citizens can use it to complain about potholes, broken footpaths, or damaged cycle tracks. Locals can download the application from the Google Play Store.
To raise a complaint, users can take photos or a short video of the road problem in hand. The app adds the location automatically using GPS. The complaint is sent to the ward engineer of that area and to their senior officer. This makes it easy to know who is responsible and to track their work.
The app was launched on August 12, 2025 by Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram. He said all complaints received on the app must be solved within 72 hours. The officer in charge may face serious action if any progress on reported incidents is delayed.
PMC Road Department head Aniruddha Pawaskar said the app is simple to use. People can upload two or three pictures or a short video. After the repair, the engineer must post “before” and “after” photos before the complaint is closed. This gives transparency and shows people that their issue is fixed.
This app comes at a time when Pune’s roads are in bad shape. The monsoon has damaged many roads. Digging for pipelines and drainage work has made things worse. Potholes have increased, causing danger to drivers, especially those on two-wheelers. Many people have been injured, and some have suffered permanent damage because of bad roads.
PMC declares that they hope the new app will make repairs faster and more reliable. Citizens will be able to see the progress of their complaint. The system also plans to ensure that repairs are done properly.
