Congress leader and MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra accused the government of staying silent on the matter of the ongoing war between Israel and Palestine, further slamming it and calling it “shameful” for shying away from condemning the genocidal actions of the Israeli State. She’s made it a mission to voice out and become vocal on X as to the government’s inaction in this matter.

The Congress leader heavily poured down her criticisms on the state of affairs between Israel and Palestine, vehemently emphasizing the sheer number of casualties on the Palestinian end. She then fired shots at the Israeli state, stating that “it has starved hundreds to death, including many children, and is threatening to starve millions.”

In response to this, Israeli Ambassador to India, Reuven Azar hit back by clarifying that Israel has exterminated 25000 Hamas terrorists and that it was Hamas’ odious tactics of hiding behind and using its civilians as human shields that led to what Ms.Gandhi was accusing the State for.  “Israel facilitated 2 million tonnes of food into Gaza while Hamas tried to sequester them, thereby creating hunger.” He also said that Gaza’s population has increased 450 per cent in the last 50 years, concluding that this is no genocide.

These accusations and calling it a genocide have taken social media by a storm, creating a rift between the Congress leader and the Israeli envoy amidst their intense exchanges on X.

Priyanka went on to further target the Indian government and the Israeli State, commending the immeasurable courage of those who stand for the truth and saying that the Israeli state will never break this. She added, “In a world where much of the media is controlled by power and money, these brave souls reminded us of what real journalism is. May they rest in peace.”

In another post on X, adding to the rising international tension, she separately called out the “cold-blooded  murder” of five journalists from Al Jazeera and called it yet another “heinous crime committed on Palestinian soil.” One of the five journalists who were killed, Anas Al-Sharif, was claimed to have been the head of a Hamas terror cell and advanced rocket attacks on Israeli civilians and the defence force. The Israeli Military, in another Israeli statement, claimed that it had published seized articles from Gaza that confirmed his affiliation with Hamas.

Jairam Ramesh, the Congress general secretary in-charge communications put forth his condemnation as to the remarks made by the Israeli envoy in response to Priyanka Gandhi’s concern about Israel’s persisting genocide in Gaza and accused the Modi government of cowardice.
