Workers of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s annual coordination meeting set off on Thursday (14th September) within the premises of Sir Parashurambhau College in Pune.

Goals of the Meeting:

The aim of the meeting includes addressing a diverse array of topics such as national security, current political situation, socio-economic issues, and the like. Moreover, issues pertaining to the environment, social cohesiveness, civic duties, and education will also be incorporated as part of the discourse. The coordination meeting is scheduled to be a three-day event (spanning from 14th September to 16th September)

Who Has Attended the Meeting So Far?

While there’s still ambiguity regarding whether or not the Union Home Minister Amit Shah would be gracing the meeting with his presence, as per his earlier schedule, a total of 267 office bearers from 36 organizations along with Bharatiya Janata Party President Jagat Prakash Nadda and party leaders BL Santosh and Shiv Prakash attended the meeting on the first day.

External Concerns:

The meeting is being held on the grounds of the S.P. College in Pune where a large pavilion has been set in place. Ergo, along with S.P. College itself, two schools (S.P.M English Medium School and the School for Deaf and Dumb) and another college (Shikshanshastra College) in the same neighborhood have been given days off for the duration of the coordination meeting. Members of the Youth Congress have spoken up against this decision on grounds of it hindering the education of the students. They have opposed the move saying that there are quite a lot of choices for venues for these events in Pune City and that educational institutions need not be used in this manner. Additionally, they’re apprehensive of a situation where holidays are declared in schools and colleges for other events such as the 10-day-long Ganesh Puja as a result of this trend persisting.

Impeccable Timing:

With the ongoing security crisis in the region of Jammu and Kashmir and the Lok Sabha elections lurking close by, the meeting could not have been organized at a better time. This could do wonders in favor of the ruling party considering the long-standing affinity BJP has maintained with the RSS over the decades.
