Rajasthan Royals Project New Perspective with Update on Sanju Samson Trade; Different Player from CSK Wanted

Pune: According to various reports, the Rajasthan Royals are expected to trade their captian Sanju Samson for the all Star rounders Ravendra Jadeja and Sam Curran from Chennai Super Kings prior to the Indian Premier League of 2026. However, a new development indicates that while Jadega’s inclusion in the trade is confirmed, the identity of the other member remains under consideration.

The report further states that CSK had advocated for Curran as RR requested an additional player alongside Jadeja in the transaction but the inaugral edition champions are looking to Sri Lank’s prominent player Matheesha Pathirana.

The report which was published by The Indian Express indicated that CSK is not inclined to trade Pathirana. It also mentioned that RR expressed their desire to acquire Jadeja while proposing the Samson deal and requested that they should involve and additional player.

The report further noted that CSK would only agree to approved Jadeja in the trade after receiving the players approval. Prior to this, an extensive discussion took place regarding the involvement of CSK’s veteran players such as MS Dhoni, Ruturaj Gaikwad and head coach Stephem Fleming.

Jadeja who was a part of the Rajasthan Royals during the first two seasons of the India Premier League. He has been one of the best players for majority of his career for the CSK. Dhoni stepped down from the position during the 2022 season. Meanwhile, the 27-year-old England all-rounder Curran has played for both CSK and Punjab Kings. Conversely, Pathirana, a fast bowler, is an emerging talent nurtured by the five-time champions.

In regards to Samson, he had been a key player and supported the RR through his strong representation for the team. After coming to the conclusion this year, this edition was presented by the witchkeeper-batter admitted that he was only looking for a change and wanted to be involved with a different franchise.
