In the teaser for the forthcoming crime drama series Aakhri Sach on Disney+ Hotstar, which is based on the Burari deaths that shook the nation in 2018, Tamannaah Bhatia’s sleuth stumbles onto disturbing facts as she investigates the odd case of mass suicides by 11 members of a family.

The disturbing opening scene of the two minutes and 15-second video features Tamannaah’s character seeing a number of dead hanging from a house’s ceiling. She awakens sweating and alarmed. She becomes even more perplexed when she learns more about the case, but she keeps looking into the causes of the widespread deaths.

They are discovered hanging in a home with an odd link to the number 11. Along with 11 bodies, there are 11 pipes, windows, and doors. The horrible conduct may have been motivated by superstition, but Tamannaah’s investigating officer is unwilling to rule out the possibility of murder.

The trailer also depicts the family members’ spiritual side and glimpses of them before to their deaths. Abhishek Banerjee, who starred in Stree and Patal Lok, portrays a significant family member. His final words in the trailer are, “Family matters should stay within the family.”

In the Burari case, 11 members of the Chundawat family from Burari, Delhi, committed mass ritual suicide in 2018.

The notorious case has also been thoroughly examined in Leena Yadav’s three-part House of Secrets: The Burari Deaths true crime docuseries on Netflix from 2021.

In a press conference, Tamannaah Bhatia, who is portraying the main investigation officer in the film Aakhri Sach, said that when the story of Aakhri Sach was told to her, it immediately rocked her to the core. This role is incredibly unique to her for two reasons: first, it’s the first time she has ever played a police officer in a long format; and second, Aakhri Sach’s portrayal of Anya’s emotional sensitivity is unlike anything else. She was forced to accept and get through all of the negative perceptions and discomfort that came with playing this savage and incisive cop. She is delighted to have contributed to this narrative and to have Disney+ Hotstar bring it to a global audience.

Robbie Grewal is the director, and Saurav Dey is the writer of the new series, which is being made by Nirvikar Films.

On August 25, Aakhri Sach will make its Disney+ Hotstar debut.
