Lionel Messi, who joined Inter Miami this summer as a free agent following a two-year stay at Paris Saint-Germain, has gotten right to work. The second-longest goal of his club career was added to his resume on Tuesday, August 15.

With a distance of 36.3 yards, Lionel Messi’s goal against the Union in the 20th minute was his longest in a club game since a 38.8-yard free kick against Real Mallorca in 2012.

Messi has been on fire since making his debut in a League Cup group match against Cruz Azul in the 94th minute with an incredible free-kick winner. The 2022 FIFA World Cup winner scored eight more goals and contributed an assist in his next five games of the competition.

Messi contributed four goals on Tuesday as Inter Miami defeated Philadelphia Union 4-1 to advance to the Leagues Cup final. The Argentine’s goal in the 20th minute was spectacular. Messi, who isn’t exactly known for his long-range shooting, blasted a shot from 31.8 meters to give Inter a 2-0 lead for the evening.

His Inter team added two more goals to mark the occasion, with Alejandro Bedoya’s goal for Philadelphia in the 73rd minute little more than a consolation.

Against Nashville SC, who defeated CF Monterrey 2-0 in the second semifinal later on Tuesday, he will try to score his tenth goal (or more) in the championship game on Saturday night. Nashville is the venue for the championship game.

The legendary Lionel Messi has travelled outside of Europe for the first time in his career. Let’s say that watching the Argentine shine for his new team in every game has been a joy for both Inter Miami fans and neutral spectators.
