On September 3rd, Chinese leader Xi Jinping led the nation’s largest-ever military parade, complete with fighter jets, missiles, and soldiers who were stepping with goosebumps, as a stark message to rivals not to doubt his country’s sovereignty.

His message was understood by the leaders of the countries that have challenged or questioned American control over the global system, as well as by those in the viewing gallery who stood by his side. He was accompanied by Russian President Vladimir Putin, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, and leaders of Iran, Pakistan, and other mostly totalitarian nations.

“The Chinese people are a great nation that is strong and independent and do not fear dictatorship,” Xi said from the rostrum of Tiananmen Gate, over a massive image of Mao Zedong.

As it fought fiercely with the US for military domination in Asia, China has displayed new ship-destructive missiles, underwater drones and cruise combat aircraft to display its investment in military innovation. In addition, Xi gently warned Taiwan and his foreign supporters about the dangers of pursuing formal freedom.

President Trump spoke from Washington just minutes before the ceremony began, accusing Xi of neglecting America’s assistance to China during the conflict. The “big question” was whether Xi would “discuss the enormous amount of support and ‘blood’ that the United States of America gave to China in order to help it secure its FREEDOM from a very unfriendly foreign invader,” referring to Russia Trump said on Truth Social.

He seemed really passive aggressive and said “Please give my warmest regards to Kim Jong Un and Vladimir Putin as you conspire against the United States of America,” Trump continued.
Xi has always worked hard towards making China stand out among the underprivileged nations who were weakened by the post World War II dynamics. China has long attempted to limit its support, even consenting to sanctions occasionally, in an effort to sway Pyongyang’s weapons development since it is still extremely concerned about the development of North Korea’s nuclear arsenal.

As the final structures left the Tiananmen Square, the day’s message became clear. China not only used the opportunity to celebrate an important anniversary, but also to show its growing military power and confidence. The purpose of Beijing is the assumption that it is intended to take the lead and global order is shifting. It was reinforced by the presence of Kim and Putin.

After losing its grandeur, the primary goal of the parade was to make a statement: to be accepted, to impact the future interactions, and to show that the alliance is being rebuilt. Whether it is seen as a warning for enemies or as a comfortable message for colleagues, the exhibition showed that the voice of Beijing was strengthened by its colleagues, and is the one the world cannot ignore.
