The Day 1 of the first of the two test matches between Bangladesh and Ireland was truly dominated by Bangladesh. Winning the toss Ireland were elected to bat first and Bangladesh were up for the challenge. Bangladesh had the best day of test cricket. It took them 14 deliveries in the morning to take the last two wickets and bowl the visitors out under a score of 300.

All the five bowlers of Bangladesh have taken wickets. Mehidy Hasan Miraz has taken 3 wickets for 50 runs in his 23 overs. Hasan Mahumud,Taijul Islam and Hasan Murad have taken 2 wickets each and Nahid Rana has taken the remaining one wicket. The Bangladeshi openers batted beautifully as both of them namely Mahmudul Hasan Joy has scored an outstanding 169 (283)* while his partner supported him by scoring 80 (104) but was dismissed by a swing ball by Mathew Humphreys. Then entered Mominul Haque and confidently scored 80 (124)*.

In the opening partnership both Mohamudul and Shadman raised their fifties and continued to go strong. The runs kept on flowing for Bangladesh. They took the game away from Ireland who had no answers for their opponents batting. Mahmudul brought up his second test century shield Haque scored a deserving fifty as well.

Bangladesh with a lead of fifty-two as of now and they’ll be looking to continue to bat for majority of Day 3 and bat the visitors out of the game. Another very big long day awaits as Ireland will look to take things into their hand and show some dominance.
